Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III was in a “scary crash” with his wife and four girls in the car with him. Three other vehicles were involved in the wreck in Fort Worth, Texas, and everyone, including a woman 22 weeks pregnant, survived.
“The truth is God doesn’t always stop the storm in your life,” Griffin said on social media. “Sometimes God rides through the storm with you.”
Robert Griffin III Gives Update Following Car Wreck: ‘God Rides Through the Storm With You’
After eight years in the NFL, former quarterback Robert Griffin III has much to be grateful for. His family of six was traveling with him in Fort Worth so he could call the CU-TCU game. Thankfully, all are recovering well.
“South units were dispatched to a major accident involving 4 vehicles, near the 6400 block of South Freeway,” the Fort Worth Police Department said to People. “Upon arrival, officers located 3 of the vehicles that were involved; the other had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.”
Griffin first posted about the “scary crash” the day of the wreck. He included multiple photos of damaged vehicles.
“Just got in the worst car accident of our lives with my wife and kids in Fort Worth, Texas,” said Griffin. “Scary crash, ricocheted off the highway divider multiple times, blown both front tires. Thankful to God that my wife and kids are safe.”
While some accused the former football player of posting too soon for social media engagement, many others offered prayers.
The next day, Griffin posted again—this time with an update and reflections on the incident.
“Woke up today with a new level of gratitude. Yesterday reminded us that life can change in a second,” said Griffin. “The truth is God doesn’t always stop the storm in your life. Sometimes God rides through the storm with you.”
He recognized that “yesterday could’ve been our last day, but God’s mercy said not yet.”
Griffin suffered two vertebral fractures, and he’s grateful to colleagues and former teammates for “taking care of us through all of this.” He mentioned that “cars are replaceable, but the families inside them are not.”
