On Friday, Nov. 21, award-winning worship singer Chris Tomlin performed during Fox News’ All-American Christmas Tree Lighting event at Fox Square in New York City.

Tomlin posted on social media that he was “honored to help kick off the Christmas season in New York. Thank you @foxnews for having me at this year’s All American Christmas Tree Lighting!”

Throughout the 53-year-old’s 30-plus-year music career, Tomlin has received a Grammy Award, over 20 Dove Awards, and two Billboard Music Awards, and he has more than 20 No. 1 songs.

“I love Christmas because it is a magical time of year. But this year, it seems different, doesn’t it?…People are more spiritual. I was in church last week. Every seat was taken,” “Fox & Friends” cohost Steve Doocy said to Tomlin.

“I really feel there’s an awakening going on in our nation and, what I think, people are longing for truth,” Tomlin replied. “I think they’re longing. We have so much coming at us. So much information coming at us left and right—what is true, what is real?”

Tomlin said, “I think people are longing for what’s real. They are longing for peace, forgiveness, [and] the things of Jesus. And this Christmas season, that’s what we celebrate.”

Doocy then asked Tomlin what it was like leading worship at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service.

“[It was] an incredible moment of time,” Tomlin said and described it as a moment he will probably “never forget.”

“Just standing there and leading people to sing about Jesus, to worship him, in the midst of all that was going on,” the “Holy Forever” singer shared, “pointing people to that, in the midst of this hard moment, midst of pain, in the midst of confusion, pointing people to the truth of Jesus, [was] so powerful.”
