A woman is recovering from injuries after being kicked by a camel during a Houston-area church’s “Christmas Spectacular” show.
Leaders of Champion Forest Baptist Church have taken steps to prevent something similar from happening in the future and remain in contact with the woman’s family.
Champion Forest Baptist Church is a multisite megachurch that puts on the nativity show every year. This year’s show included live animals that were escorted through the aisles of the church’s auditorium.

In video captured by Grizzy’s Hood News, the camel can be seen kicking the woman with its hind leg as it walks past her seat. Several people can be seen moving to provide the woman with aid.
The woman was taken to the hospital but has since been released and is recovering from her injuries. The nature of her injuries have not been publicly disclosed.
Steven Miori, Champion Forest Baptist Church’s communication director, said in a statement that “an unexpected incident occurred when a camel used in the production struck a guest in the audience.”
“Champion Forest regrets that this happened. Our team responded immediately, and emergency services were engaged,” said Miori.
The church stopped escorting animals down the aisle for the remaining shows.
Mishaps involving camels, which are known to escape from live nativities, are not entirely uncommon during the Christmas season.

While camels can be playful, they are also dangerous when they become stressed or feel threatened, leading them to cause serious injury or death.
