Pastor Receives Maximum 7-Year Sentence After Conviction in Sex Abuse Case

During Martin’s sentencing hearing, the victim characterized Martin’s actions as “utterly evil,” saying, “What he did to me was selfish, despicable, and egregious.”

“I struggle,” she went on to say, “with things that I should not have to deal with because they are not the consequences of my actions.”

State District Judge Darren Roy noted that he received more than 100 character letters supporting Martin but chose not to reduce his sentence in light of the fact that Martin’s actions were “exceptionally severe, with permanent injury to the victim.”

Upon his release, Martin is required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
