“If it was depicted in the Bible, [we aimed] to depict it as closely as we could…including dialogue,” Echevarria said. “But there were places where the Bible can be very powerful in its silences.”

Echevarria also spoke to the cultural interest in biblical storytelling, citing the success of recent faith-based series.

“There seems to be a revival of religion…God’s on the move,” he said.
