Eugenio Suárez Speaks Publicly About His Faith
Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez also glorified God after Team Venezuela defeated Italy 4-2 in the semifinals Monday night (March 16). During that matchup, Suárez hit a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Afterward, Suárez began an on-field interview by praising God. “I just want to say first, God being good,” he said in heavily accented English. “I have to glorify his name, Jesus being awesome with us…We never give up.”

Calling his team “awesome,” Suárez said, “We had everything, but more important we have faith. We believe in God, we pray every day, we give him glory to God, one and only, Jesus, and that means a lot for us.”
Few people believed in Team Venezuela, added Suárez. “But…now we go for the first time to the finals and we got to enjoy, God being good, and we have to do it for our country.”
Suárez also posts about his faith on social media. Last Christmas, next to a family photo, he wrote in Spanish, “May peace and the love of God always reign in all the homes of the world.”
