“It’s because, honestly, I don’t know how to categorize many things coming from the White House and directly from the president,” Mohler added, “because I don’t know how much of it is reflecting deep thought and intentionality and how much of it is just quite frankly, ‘This looks interesting and I’ll repost it.’”

Although he did not label the image as blasphemous earlier in the week, Mohler said it was blasphemous regardless of Trump’s intentions.

“Several people said, ‘Why didn’t you say it was blasphemous?’ Well, I should have,” Mohler said. “When you do look at the robes and all the rest, let’s just say it was blasphemous.”

He continued, “Whether it was intended or not, it was blasphemous. And if it was intended as blasphemous, that’s just all the worse.”

“When we’re talking about President Trump, we’re talking about someone who’s—just again on Easter Sunday, an absolutely profane, profane posting on social media,” Mohler added. “And also the comment about Allah. I honestly don’t know what to do with it.”

Dr. Albert Mohler Reflects on Voting for Trump

Mohler also reflected on why he voted for Trump in the last election.

“Here’s the thing,” he said, “President Trump is president of the United States. He is not eligible for a third term.”

“He’s not going to be up for election again for Christians,” said Mohler, “and I’ll say for those of us who voted for President Trump, certainly there’s some moral responsibility in just looking at how all these things happen.”

“But if I went back to the 2024 election again, I certainly could not vote under any circumstance for the person running against President Trump,” Mohler explained. “And so one way or the other, you bear, we all bear, some responsibility for him being president of the United States.”
