Parton said that she is “still working” on various projects, which includes “reworking” a broadway musical based on her life. “Dolly: A True Original Musical” premiered in Nashville, Tennessee, in July 2025, and it will be performed in New York later this year or early next year.
However, Parton apologized that she would not be able to perform in Las Vegas this fall. She was originally set to perform starting in December 2025 before postponing to September of this year. Now, those shows have been canceled.
Parton expressed gratitude to everyone who has encouraged her as she has grieved the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, who died in 2025. At the time of Dean’s death, the couple had been married for nearly 60 years.
Parton said that “after going through a year of firsts—I mean the holidays and especially our wedding anniversary and the day of his death, March 3—you know, that was hard for me,” Parton said. “But I will always love him, and I will always miss him.”
Parton continued, “But you would be surprised at how much your love and concern meant to me during that time.” Parton said that her home “looked like the botanical gardens” with all the flowers she received and “like the post office” from all the letters that had been sent to her.
“So, yes, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” said Parton. “You have been a big part of my healing.”

“And I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you,” she concluded.
