Wuhan Pastor: The Coronavirus Fight Is Also a Spiritual Battle

Now, authorities are turning these techniques onto citizens they suspect might be Coronavirus carriers, incentivizing people to report one another. Says the Times, “In the northern province of Hebei, one county offered bounties of 1,000 yuan, or about $140, for each Wuhan person reported by residents.” Wuhan residents are also being turned away from hotels and having their personal information leaked online after registering it with authorities. 

The words of the pastor from Wuhan, Hubei, contrast sharply with this culture of fear: 

We are to seek peace for this city, seek peace for those who are afflicted with this illness, seek peace for the medical personnel struggling on the front lines, seek peace for every government official at every level, seek peace for all the people of Wuhan! And we can through online networks guide and comfort our friends and loved ones with the gospel, reminding them that our lives are not in our own hands, and to entrust their lives to God who is faithful and true.
