Tony Evans Shares His View on Vaccine Mandates, Says COVID Is About ‘Something Bigger’

The pastor also mentioned Bill C-4, a Canadian law banning conversion therapy that went into effect earlier this month. On Jan. 16, thousands of pastors across North America responded to this law by preaching sermons on biblical sexuality. “We’re next,” said Evans, implying that the U.S. will soon see laws of a similar nature. He went on to mention other issues Americans are divided over, such as politics, race, and the police.

“God has allowed us to place ourselves in a situation only he can fix,” said the pastor. He then read from select passages in the Book of Joel that describe God’s people gathering in a solemn assembly, fasting, and calling on the name of the Lord. Drawing a parallel between these Scriptures and American society, Evans said that starting that day, church members were invited to participate in a 21-day fast from meat and dessert or anything else people preferred.

“This is a critical time,” said Evans. “It’s not a time for business as usual.” He explained that fasting is a highly focused way for Christians to intercede before God when facing situations that seem hopeless, but added that people should not feel pressured to participate if their hearts were not in it.

“This COVID deal is about something bigger,” said Evans. It is about God showing everyone in the world that he is in charge.
