Jerry Falwell Jr. Addresses ‘False Media Reports’ About Him Following Vanity Fair Profile

Falwell also responded directly to Moore by tweeting a link to Moore’s Christianity Today article and saying, “Thank you, @drmoore. We never met so I apologize for not initiating a dialogue in the past. Now I admire you for your boldness and for proving you are evenhanded and definitely not a hypocrite!”

It seems that Falwell tweeted the statement facetiously, as he has previously accused Moore of being part of an “SBC deep state” trying to “subvert the will of the church members.” Nevertheless, many people indicated in their responses to the tweet that it seemed like Falwell hadn’t read the article.

Falwell reiterated multiple times on social media that he never said he had walked away from the Christian faith, and any suggestion that he had is a misrepresentation of what the Vanity Fair profile said.

In response to Falwell’s public reaffirmation of his faith, longtime Liberty University professor and current research professor at Southeastern Seminary Karen Swallow Prior said, “Let your life make it clear. Praying for you all, Jerry.”
