The biblical account of Peter walking on the water has been an important one to the Porter family. Brandon told the Times News that the night of Josiah’s accident, Brandon spoke to his family about that story in Matthew 14. In the gospel account, as long as Peter keeps his eyes on Jesus, he is able to walk on the water. When Peter looks at the storm, he begins to sink.

“If you trust Jesus, he will help you walk above the storm,” said Brandon. “If we kept looking back, or saying, ‘Josiah won’t be able to do this, and won’t be able to do that,’ that’s looking at the storm. God was telling us to look at him. This was Josiah’s new situation. It happened. And God is going to do something amazing.”

Only four teams remain in the Little League World Series. The Fu-Lin Little League (Taipei City, Chinese Taipei) will square off Saturday, Aug. 27, against Pabao Little League (Willemstad, Curaçao) in the International Championship game. That same day the Southeast team will face Honolulu (Hawaii) Little League in the United States Championship.
