Donald Trump Is Openly Embracing QAnon, Say Critics, Who Cite ‘Messiah-Like Status,’ ‘Deeply Weird’ Hand Gestures

“These are people who have elevated Trump to messiah-like status, where only he can stop this cabal,” says professor Mia Bloom, who studies QAnon. “That’s why you see so many images [online] of Trump as Jesus.”

Other speculate that Trump is gravitating toward his staunchest followers as he deals with ongoing investigations and new Republican challengers for 2024. “We are a nation that has weaponized its law enforcement against the opposing political party like never ever before,” Trump said at Saturday’s rally. “We’ve got a Federal Bureau of Investigation that won’t allow bad, election-changing facts to be presented to the public.”

Trump also decried America’s lack of a “fair press,” calling media members “truly the enemy of the people.”
