‘Ideal for the Patriots’—Donald Trump Jr. Promotes ‘We the People Bible’

The American Patriot’s Bible, which uses the New King James Version, includes pictures and articles intended to demonstrate “how the history of the United States connects the people and events of the Bible to our lives in a modern world.”

In March 2021, Zondervan halted its production of the God Bless the USA Bible after widespread criticism and pushback from Christians leaders including Shane Claiborne, Jemar Tisby, and Soong-Chan Rah. The God Bless the USA Bible was originally going to use the NIV translation, which Zondervan publishes, but after the controversy with the publishing company, the Bible’s developers switched to the KJV.  “God Bless the USA” singer Lee Greenwood endorsed the Bible, which features the chorus of Greenwood’s famous song, as well as the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and Pledge of Allegiance.

Adam Kinzinger, who represents Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives, criticized Donald Trump Jr.’s video promoting the We The People Bible and called on pastors to speak out about it. “Oh the irony,” he said. “The fact that some Christians [don’t] see the problem here is more affirmation that it’s not the GOP that has failed Christians, it’s the church. Good Pastors and Priests rise up and call this out.”
