Satan wants to destroy the world. Said Roumie, “He wants us to believe that abortion does not harm us individually and as a society. So please, I beg of you, pray for those who do not have the faith, the strength, the clarity of purpose that you here do.”
Jonathan Roumie explained that during his time in the entertainment industry, he has witnessed a “sharp and disturbing increase in the darkness of the imagery being used in film, television and music.” He sees more and more storylines that are “demonic” or full of “psychologically disturbing content.” He clarified, however, that he was not “referencing a certain bespectacled wizard.”
Roumie also observed that social media is highly sexualized and encourages young people, especially women, to see themselves as objects. The truth is, he said, “Your imperfections were perfectly designed by God in heaven.” True empowerment is not to objectify oneself, but to “believe in the greatness of who you are, flaws and all.”
Roumie encouraged young people that they have the ability to influence and change the culture. “They say we live in a post-Christian society,” he said. “I reject that. You can reject that. Change the culture by impacting the culture.”
How do we change the culture? We can start, said Roumie, by praying the rosary. Second, we can “examine and expose the areas of darkness” in our spheres of influence.
“We are charged,” he said, “to be the standard bearers who defend and preserve the dignity of every human, but especially the most vulnerable.”
