“It’s an honor receiving an award in his name,” Cousins said. “I can only hope at the end of my life to have someone speak to me as we have spoken with him today.”

Following his acceptance speech, Cousins invited those in attendance to place their faith in Christ. Citing Hebrews 9:27, Cousins explained that man is destined to die and will face judgement.

He then recited Romans 3:23Romans 6:23Romans 5:8, and Romans 10:9-10, saying, “if you confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. There’s no tricks. There’s no secrets. That’s it. It’s that simple.”

The Vikings quarterback, who threw for over 4,500 yards and 29 touchdowns, then led a room filled with current and former NFL players and coaches and their families in a prayer of salvation.
