Tom Ascol, the runner-up in the 2022 SBC presidential race, tweeted on March 31: “I support the…Florida Baptist resolution for the @SBCExecComm to cut all ties to Guidepost Solutions.” Mike Stone, the runner-up in the 2021 SBC presidential race, tweeted gratitude for “our neighbors to the south,” adding, “This Georgia Baptist agrees.”
Rod Martin, who resigned from the SBC’s Executive Committee in 2021 over the waived-privilege controversy, pointed out that “Florida is 10% of the EC’s funding.”
Responding to criticism of its hiring of Guidepost, SBC President Bart Barber tweeted in February that the denomination “is not outsourcing moral judgments to anyone.” Guidepost, he added, is simply investigating—and anyone who claims otherwise, he said, is “lying to you.”
