Semler Touts Success of Single ‘Faith,’ as the ‘Queer Artist’ Charts in Christian Music During Pride Month

In a tweet directed toward Dove Award voters, she said, “I know I’m not for everybody, but I have been part of expanding representation in Christian music. And my records slap.”

Semler later revealed she had been notified that she was not eligible for the “Best New Artist” category. 

“I did what I could on my end to be eligible, but I guess this wasn’t my year,” she said. “Would’ve loved to be considered. Thanks for the support all the same.”

Sometime following Semler’s tweet about the success of “Faith,” Danny Gokey’s “My America (I Still Believe)” overtook it for the top spot on the chart. At the time of this writing, “Faith” is in the number two spot.
