When asked how he planned to address this tragedy with his congregation, Wood replied that it is part of the mission of the church to move toward people’s pain with love and compassion.
“We also do believe that in the midst of evil, God is able to take this evil and turn it for good and able to shine hope into the situation through his love,” he said, explaining that belief in Jesus, the Son of God, gives people life beyond this world. “We want to be that beacon of hope to communicate that there’s more than just this life.”
