Astronaut Victor Glover Jr.
NASA astronaut Victor Glover Jr., 47, also made Time’s “100 Next” list for 2023. The former U.S. Navy fighter pilot will be piloting next fall’s Artemis II mission that circles the moon.
As ChurchLeaders reported, Glover brought his Bible and communion cups to the International Space Station in 2020. During a six-month stay in space, he worshiped virtually with his wife and four daughters back on earth.
Glover, who often posts Scripture verses on social media, said prayer is a key part of his relationship with God. While on the ISS, the astronaut had “philosophical discussions about God” and “everything under the sun” with his scientist peers. “That human desire to be together, to be with our brothers and sisters, is a thing that I think about all the time,” said Glover.
Although he’s proud to be the first person of color to make a lunar journey, Glover said he wants to ensure he’s not the last. He also aims to represent all Americans and his Savior as best he can. “I want to use the abilities that God has given me to do my job well,” Glover said in a 2020 interview.
