During his Christmas Eve sermon on Sunday, Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, addressed rumors that he participated in sex parties hosted by Grammy Award-winning rapper and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In the week leading up to Christmas, Jakes started trending on social media due to rumors that he engaged in sexual acts with men at Diddy’s parties. One allegation included the claim that a young man had acquired a lawyer to sue Jakes.

On Thursday (Dec. 21), Jordan A. Hora, a representative for Jakes, told The Christian Post that “recent claims circulating on pockets of social media about Bishop T.D. Jakes are unequivocally false and baseless.”

“What has always been true,” Hora added, “in the words of the late Pastor Charles H. Spurgeon, ‘If you want the truth to go round the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but if you want a lie to go round the world it will fly; it is as light as a feather, and a breath will carry it.'”

It is “disheartening to witness the proliferation of numerous deepfake photos and the distortion of words through false, sensationalized misrepresentations, encapsulating purported statements to falsely speculate and attack others, including Bishop Jakes,” Hora said. “There is much more important work to be done to create a better world. The Bible teaches us the importance of compassion and care for others, especially those who may be marginalized or in need.”

Hora reiterated that the rumors surrounding Jakes are both “ignorant” and “false.”

“Chairman Jakes is undeterred by false, perverse, ignorant, and conspiratorial speculations [and] will persevere in his continued dedication to create meaningful change for millions around the globe, guided by the timeless principles of compassion, service, and ministry,” Hora said.

In 2021, Jakes and Diddy teamed up to bring sermons to Combs’ cable television network, Revolt—a digital cable television network that primarily focuses on urban contemporary music and includes original programming that covers social justice news.

Jakes Addresses Rumors

On Sunday, Jakes personally addressed the swirling rumors before he started preaching. He referred to the rumors as “lies” and told his congregation not to be worried about him.

“I am fine. I’m good. I’m good. I’m the man for the job. I’m good,” he said. “Give God some praise.”
