“The Christian needs to speak up for the Jewish people,” the pastor continued, referencing Genesis 12, where God told Abraham that he would make him into a nation and would bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him.

“I appeal to all my Christian friends, I appeal specifically to pastors out there, to speak on this topic,” Laurie said. “Talk to your people about it. And it’s important that we love the Jewish people and that we support the nation Israel.”

“Obviously, we’ve never been closer than we are right now to the Lord’s return, and in my view, the next event on the prophetic calendar is the rapture of the church, which could happen at any moment,” the pastor said as he concluded his thoughts.

Laurie is one of a number of Christian leaders who believe current events are a sign that we are nearing the end times. However, some disagree with this view. In a video published Jan. 25, Skye Jethani of the Holy Post explained why he believes the rapture is not even in the Bible. When Russia began its war on Ukraine in 2022, “Bible Answer Man” Hank Hanegraaff stated that the war is not a sign of the end times and that to think so is to misunderstand biblical history.

Whatever one’s view of the end of the world, all believers can certainly be unified in standing against antisemitism and prejudice of any kind, as well as in praying that wars throughout the world would cease.
