Actor Paul Rudd, star of “I Love You, Man,” “Ant-Man,” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” says the person from history he most wants to meet is Jesus Christ. The actor, who is Jewish and has described himself as “not particularly religious,” had no hesitation about naming Jesus as his top choice and said he would like to ask him a question.
If Paul Rudd Could Go Back in Time
Paul Rudd joined Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) and Mckenna Grace (“I, Tonya”) for an interview about the three’s new movie, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which was released March 22. At one point, the interviewer asked, if they could go back in time “and spend a day with anyone from history,” whom would they choose?
“Anyone from history, who would we choose?” Rudd asked. “I know my answer: Jesus Christ.”
Wolfhard and Grace burst out laughing. “By the way,” said Rudd, who was not fazed, “laugh all you want, and it seems like it would be a wrong thing to say.”
Wolfhard appeared to interject by questioning whether or not Jesus was “real” because Rudd told him, “He existed…so wouldn’t you want to spend some time with him and go, ‘Jesus, what’s the deal?’”
Wolfhard conceded, “It’s true,” and that Rudd had given a “genuinely great answer.” Grace agreed it was a “fantastic answer.”
“You say this and people think like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, you can’t say that,’ and I’d say, ‘Well, why?’” said Rudd. “That’s who I would choose.”
When the interviewer turned to Wolfhard and Grace for their answers, Rudd said, “Guys? Come on. I got Jesus. Who do you guys got?”
The interviewer joked that one of the two younger actors could pick Judas. Wolfhard settled on John Lennon, who ironically boasted at one point that The Beatles were “more popular than Jesus.”
Christians in Hollywood
Because Hollywood often promotes values that are opposed to Christianity, it’s perhaps unsurprising that some actors would find it odd to talk about Jesus. Nevertheless, there are a number of people who are faithful Christians in the entertainment industry. One of the most well-known is Mark Wahlberg, an outspoken Catholic.
