Skaggs shared just how proud he was of Chapman. “We love you so much,” he said before turning to the audience and announcing, “Ladies and gentlemen, the next member of the Grand Ole Opry: Steven Curtis Chapman!”
Chapman reflected, “I was and still am completely blown away!”
“To the many many people who’ve been a part of the journey that led to an amazing moment last night…Thank You!” said the forever grateful artist. “And to the Giver of every good gift…Thank You for yet another moment to ‘Taste and SEE’ how good you truly are!”
Steven Curtis Chapman’s Journey of Faith Continues
Chapman, 61, has no plans of slowing down or retiring anytime soon. “I genuinely can’t think of a time that I’ve ever enjoyed more,” Chapman said, “singing the songs, the new music, the older songs…I still love it so much.”
His most recent single, “Do It Again,” was released this year, and his latest album, “Still,” was released in 2022, with “fresh, life-giving songs for the masses.”
As a Christian artist, Chapman, who is recognized for the relationships he has with God, his family, and his fans, has been vocal about his unwavering relationship with God—even through tragedy.
“God continues this beautiful thing about the journey of faith. You know, we never arrive until finally the Father says, ‘Come home,’” Chapman said.
“After so much success, some might think recording a new album would be second nature,” Chapman’s website says. “But for Chapman, starting a new chapter wasn’t so easy.” So Chapman’s fans will need to wait for any new album from the artist.
The Grand Ole Opry announced an Opry Country Christmas Show that will take place on Sunday, Dec. 22. Chapman will perform alongside Mandy Barnett, John Berry, The Gatlin Brothers, Charlie McCoy, Riders In The Sky, and others.
