Pastor Jack Graham
Jack Graham, senior pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church, posted, “Evil is mounting and our country is in the crosshairs. Pray for President Trump.”
Seminary Professor Andrew T. Walker
“Two assassination attempts. Two,” said Andrew Walker, an associate professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. “Surely this will cause us to self-examine where our rhetoric is taking us, right?”
Walker concluded his post by quoting James 3:6: “And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.”
Center for Baptist Leadership’s William Wolfe
William Wolfe, executive director for the Center for Baptist Leadership, posted, “I’m heartbroken. This is what happens when you use dehumanizing rhetoric against those made in the Imago Dei.”
“When the Left spreads baseless lies about people, it leads to violence,” Wolfe added. “Christians, this is a moral test. We cannot stand by while image bearers are attacked like this.”
Pastor Greg Laurie
“Donald Trump has dodged a bullet—literally, once again! I truly believe that God extended His hand of protection over our former president, and I’m so thankful for that,” said Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship. “The inflammatory political rhetoric needs to be toned down, and we need a return to civility in our public discourse.”
“Most importantly,” he added, “America needs to turn back to God. Let’s also pray for the right person to be in the Oval Office and for God’s protection over everyone serving in elected office, regardless of whether we voted for them or not.”
