“Well, it was the holy somethin’ because it just really redirected me,” he said. The man went to the different church, sat down, pulled out a pamphlet—and yelled because he saw TerKeurst’s face on it. It turned out she was going to speak at the church’s upcoming women’s event. “I just knew you were right,” the man told her. “God was pursuing my heart.”

“Then I had a great conversation with him,” TerKeurst said, “and we hung up the phone, and I haven’t heard from him since. That was in 2001.”

“So back to the [San Antonio] event and the reason why the gal that works for me who knew the story was freaking out,” said TerKeurst. The woman told TerKeurst, “Lysa, the Bible man’s daughter is here and she has your Bible.”

“I’m not supposed to take that Bible, but I would love to meet her,” TerKeurst responded. So TerKeurst met the daughter, as well as the daughter’s aunt and the aunt’s friend.

The daughter told TerKeurst that the “Bible man,” Ron, had passed away two years ago, “but she wanted me to know that he had accepted the Lord and that he led his entire family to the Lord,” said TerKeurst with emotion.

“Lysa, before he passed away, he gave me this Bible,” said the daughter, “and I didn’t know you because I wasn’t very close to the Lord. But I’ve been using this Bible and going through all my dad’s notes, and it has comforted me unlike anything else.”

“And then my aunt was reading one of your older books, and she read the story in the book, and we figured out it was you,” the daughter explained, “and we tracked you down, and we came here tonight hoping that we could meet you.”

“That is the God that we serve,” said TerKeurst. “You see, when we don’t see the hand of God moving in the way that we think it should be moving right here, we have to go back and start tracing the hand of God.”

“He has been so faithful in the past,” she said. “Just the fact that we are breathing and living and in this room together right now is such rich evidence of God’s goodness and God’s faithfulness.”
