“I love this one,” said Moore. “This one says this: My girls have been very sick since Wednesday, and although I’ve prayed, I have not written nor have I done my reading.”

This entry shows that it had been days since Moore had done her Bible reading, and she had “all that feeling of guilt that goes with it.” At the end of the entry, she wrote, “I’m so exhausted, Father. Please give me energy. Please give me rest.”

“The whole journal goes on and on like this,” said Moore, and includes many prayers for her marriage. “Interestingly, it’s some of the same things I’m still praying,” she said. “Does anybody understand that with me?”

The last entry Moore chose to read is “the one I will probably quote for the rest of my days.” She called both her daughters and read it to them. It said, “Thank you for this Monday, Lord. Help me to live this week for you. Give me a bright, cheery feeling inside.”

Moore asked viewers, “Don’t you just wish you could have a little bit of a bright, cheery feeling inside?”

When Moore went home, she pulled out a few more journals “randomly,” choosing some from 2011, 2018, and 2023.  Looking through those three journals, Moore said, “I saw over and over again where I had prayed for the kind of mother that God wanted me to be, especially to adult children,” as well as “for the kind of grandmother—because at this point I’m praying for my grandchildren now—and then I find that I’m praying the things for my grandchildren that I so often prayed for my own kids.”

Moore said she expects to have the same prayers for the following generation if she lives long enough. “Because you know what?” she said. “Some things are just common to man, to woman, to mother.”

“And I thought to myself,” said Moore, “Mothering is a lot. A lot of rewards and a lot of regrets.”

This Mother’s Day, Moore said, “I pray for your peace, I pray for your joy, I pray for you a nap, I pray some good rest, I pray for God to give you and me both a pleasant demeanor and a better disposition.”

“And I pray for you to have that bright, cheery feeling inside,” she said. “And above all else, I pray for God to give you Jesus.”

We all have many answered and unanswered prayers, said Moore, “but I tell you one thing you can always have: You can have all of Jesus. Happy Mother’s Day, woman of God. You are seen by him today.”
