After Schonemann’s death, his family released a statement saying their father “had such a positive impact on people everywhere he went.” Randy said his dad was a devoted husband, widowed in 2022 after almost 49 years of marriage. Bill Schonemann, a welder by trade and a car enthusiast, found religion after returning home from serving in the Vietnam War.

Pastor Schonemann’s legacy, according to friends and congregants, is his relational ministry style and servant attitude. They described him as a “true pastor” who made visits and supported people through life’s ups and downs.

Hearing fond memories about his father is “reassuring,” said Randy. “The connection with people—he loved to talk and visit with people and get their stories.”
