Actor Tom Hiddleston stars in a new inspirational film, “The Life of Chuck.”

Inspired by a Stephen King short story and directed by Mike Flanagan, “The Life of Chuck” tells a fictional story about a man named Charles “Chuck” Krantz who experiences the wonder of love, loss, and the meaning of life in the midst of turmoil.

In addition to Hiddleston (“Loki,” ”The Avengers,” “Thor”), Flanagan’s film stars Karen Gillan (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Doctor Strange,” “12 Years a Slave”), Mia Sara (“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”), Matthew Lillard (“Scooby-Doo”), and Mark Hamill (“Star Wars,” “The King of Kings,” “The Wild Robot”).

During a media press conference for the film, Hiddleston shared that when he first read the script, it really crystallized for him that no human really knows when God has determined that their time on earth is done. “None of us know what the last day of our lives will be. None of us know the last date,” he said. “None of us know how it’s gonna end. And we all live, each of us, every day in that uncertainty. And we do the best we can with the life we have.”

“And that awareness, I think, is something that comes in and out of focus in our lives,” Hiddleston said. “That actually this is not a dress rehearsal.” The Marvel actor then quoted someone who said, “We all have two lives; the second begins when you realize you only have one. And you don’t know when that life is gonna run out.”

Hiddleston shows off his dancing skills during one of the film’s most memorable scenes. “I’m just getting to dance that out, I suppose, as Chuck,” he said. “And it’s so beautifully described in the story, that this moment on the sidewalk on a Thursday afternoon is maybe a moment of an expression of the most intense freedom of his entire life.”

“He’s completely free,” Hiddleston added. “He’s completely in the present moment. He’s completely alive. And in six months’ time, his life will be over.”

“The Life of Chuck” is rated R for language. It is in select theaters on June 6 and everywhere on June 13.
