Fox is set to release a six-part miniseries about key figures in the book of Genesis. Titled “The Faithful,” the series will premiere in spring 2026.
Carol Mendelsohn (“CSI”), Rene Echevarria (“Carnival Row,” “The 4400”) will executive produce the show.
Echevarria is also credited as a writer. Danny Cannon will direct.
The cast will include Jeffrey Donovan (“Burn Notice,” “Law & Order”) as Abraham, Minnie Driver (“Good Will Hunting”) as Abraham’s wife Sarah, and Natacha Karam (“9-1-1: Lone Star”) as Hagar, Abraham’s servant and the mother of Ishmael.
The series will also feature the stories of Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, and Rachel, the favored wife of Jacob.
“Women from Genesis navigate love, marriage, motherhood, and faith as their descendants establish Judaism, Christianity, and Islam,” reads the show’s description. “Their personal journeys reveal struggles with relationships, children, and belief.”
“‘The Faithful’ follows The Old Testament’s heroic, biblical matriarchs and opens a new lane of storytelling at Fox,” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network. “This show is the definition of strong, female character-driven storytelling, exploring timeless themes that originated thousands of years ago, yet remain startlingly modern and relatable.”
Thorn said that the show will bring “unbelievable depth, dimension, intimacy and surprise to stories so many think they know but will completely rediscover through this powerful new lens.”
In a press release, Fox described the character of Sarah as feeling “incomplete without the child that has been promised to her and her husband, Abraham, by God.”
