Following Frank’s video to Asbury on Tuesday, West share why he removed his “Honey” video from his social media.
“A whole bunch of you have been asking me, where’s the ‘Honey’ video when you’re releasing that song,” West said. “This weekend at the Nebraska State Fair, I got on stage, and the first thing I saw in the arena was all these banners and posters that people made that said ‘Bees make honey,’ and people were shouting, ‘How’s your pinky finger?’”
West explained that he removed the video a few days ago and didn’t plan to address why until Frank released his reaction video to Asbury’s parody.
“My name’s kind of been lumped into the whole conversation and I’m getting a bunch of hate on socials so I figured I would just address once and for all why I took it down,” said West.
“The reason I took the ‘Honey’ video down is because Forrest reached out to me directly and let me know that he didn’t think my video was funny, and he took offense to it and felt like I was making light of a serious moment his life,” he continued. “And so I respectfully reached right back out to him and apologized, and we actually had a chance to speak directly on the phone.”

West shared that before he phoned Frank, he took his “Honey” video down so that Frank would know that it wasn’t West’s heart to attack other artists. “The West family listens to forest Frank, and we love the impact that he’s having for the kingdom,” said West.

Sharing the details of their conversation, West said:
We had a good conversation. I shared with him, you know, not knowing how much my career was even on his radar, that over the last several years, man, I’ve done goofy songs in the past. You know, during the pandemic, I did a song called “Quarantine Life” that took off. And every Thanksgiving, I put on a turkey costume and sing gobble, gobble. We help raise money for people who need a meal. I host the K-Love Fan Awards several years, and have done just goofy videos, but the common thread through all that stuff is that I’m the butt of the joke, like the joke’s on me. It’s intended to be, like, self deprecating, and when we saw that, like, Forrest injury was healed, and then Crowder got injured, and they were doing a song together, it just felt like it was turning into this lighter, more celebratory tone on socials, this cultural moment. So the family and I, we were joking like, oh, what’s the goofiest injury? Oh, I got stung by a bee on the pinky, and that was the intent. But regardless of the intent, it didn’t land in the right place for Forrest.
