Malik Nabers Thanks God for His Mom, Honors His Friend
While discussing his Christian faith, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers emphasized the role his mother played. “I know a lot of kids gonna remember when I say this,” he said in the GQ video. “It’s a Saturday night, you play the game all night. You wake up in the morning, and you hear your mama got that loud Sunday church music on. And that’s to clean up.”
Another item Nabers treasures is a photo with his mom, taken the day after he was drafted sixth overall in spring 2024. The athlete credited his mother with helping him make “his dream come true” to play in the NFL.

“I’m so glad she’s in my life,” Nabers said in the video. “I’m so glad God blessed me with a mother like her. I think she’s one of a kind. She’s my No. 1 supporter.”
Last fall, after a strong start during his rookie season, Nabers was asked about the reason for his “instant success.” In response, he told a reporter, “First and foremost, I gotta thank God. I wouldn’t be here without him.”
This season, Nabers and some former LSU teammates—including Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels—are honoring Kyren Lacy, who died of an apparent suicide in April. Nabers has spoken about struggling with grief after losing his close friend. The wide receiver said he plans to honor Lacy this season by using some of Lacy’s touchdown dances after scoring.
