As a competitor, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has a fiery demeanor on the field. But as a Christian, the second-year player out of LSU is fired up about “believing in Christ and having a relationship with God, because God is real.”
On Sept. 7, during the Giants’ week-one loss to Washington, Nabers had a heated sideline exchange with Coach Brian Daboll. A few days later, the 22-year-old athlete said he was just trying to motivate his teammates and will try to “smile more” on game days.

Nabers is also passionate about God’s Word and remembering to “keep God first.” In a recent clip from GQ magazine, the wide receiver held up a Bible and shared that staying in Scripture helps him “thrive.”
Malik Nabers Loves Learning From the Bible
In a Sept. 1 video, New York Giants standout Malik Nabers shared 10 essentials, or 10 things he “can’t live without.” Amid items such as his jewelry and PlayStation is his Bible—a gift from his mother. As a child, Nabers said, he was taught that “you always keep God first.”
Nabers said, “One of the key factors is about my life is, I love learning new things about the Bible. When Christ was on the earth, what he did. So I always keep a Bible with me.” He continued:
[God] has got me through a lot of different obstacles in my life. And without him, I wouldn’t be here today, praying when I wake up, praying at night. I [have] prayed to God for some things, and he had blessed me with a lot of different accomplishments, a lot of different things in my life. So it’s one of the main things I keep in my life.
About prayer, Nabers said, “Anything that you ask God is not gonna always come right then and there, but it’s gonna come eventually. Just keep on believing.”
