3. Trent Shelton
Although injuries cut Trent Shelton’s NFL career short, the former wide receiver found new purpose as a motivational speaker. The outspoken Christian founded the nonprofit RehabTime to help people build their self-worth and trust God amid hardships. Shelton’s latest book is titled “Protect Your Peace: Nine Unapologetic Principles for Thriving in a Chaotic World.”
Shelton, an undrafted free agent out of Baylor, is the son of a pastor. In 2019, he told Guideposts he found a “whole new calling” as a character coach. “You don’t have to be perfect to help people,” Shelton realized. “All you have to be is real.”

Because of his previous challenges—such as fathering a child out of wedlock and dealing with his roommate’s suicide—Shelton can connect with people in pain. He encourages them to trust God’s plan and not quit.
“Just because that dream is over, that sport is over, that relationship is over, doesn’t mean your life is over,” said Shelton. “God has a plan that’s way bigger than what you lost.” @TrentSheltonClick to Post
