Despite being undrafted out of North Carolina, Jeff Saturday had a memorable 14-year NFL career. The center won a Super Bowl and was selected for the Pro Bowl six times.

Saturday, 50, is now a football analyst. On a recent episode of the “Sports Spectrum” podcast, he discussed how he came to faith in Jesus. The former pro athlete also shared how he’s been trusting God while recovering from major surgery.

After Indianapolis signed Saturday in 1999, some teammates invited him to a Bible study. Although he initially went for the free food, Saturday also scored by finding faith in Jesus. He and his wife “both got saved within that year,” he said. “Thank God!”

Colts head coach Tony Dungy had a big influence on Saturday’s walk with God. “It was remarkable playing for a man like that,” the former player said.

Recent open-heart surgery has helped Saturday put life into perspective. He said that while recovering, he jotted down “words that I feel like God has kind of spoken to me.”
