God Didn’t (and Won’t) Tell You to Marry Your Spouse

The Bottom Line

Here’s what I’ll insist on:

  • Just because you think God wants you to marry someone doesn’t mean He does.

  • Just because God doesn’t stop you from marrying someone doesn’t mean He agrees it’s wise.

God will never forsake you. He will be with you in every second of your marriage, offering grace and power to live by your decision. But He has clearly said in His Word: it is your decision.

So rise up to your regal calling in Christ and own it. Seek His blessing. Seek His wisdom in Scripture.

The Bible doesn’t tell us how to know “the one.” But it does give us wisdom for making decisions:

  • Apply biblical principles.

  • Seek wise counsel.

  • Be deliberate.

  • Consider the future.

  • Base your choice on the right priorities.

As the emailer suggested, I unpack this further in my book The Sacred Search. If this still feels unclear, I encourage you to check out that resource:
