On Thursday, Oct. 9, Colton Dixon started The Ignite Tour 2025 with Mac PowellDanny Gokey, and Ryan Ellis. But before Dixon left for his first stop in Florence, Alabama, ChurchLeaders caught up with the “American Idol” alum on the Dove Awards red carpet.

Dixon shared that he is excited to hit the road with his friends and steward the fire of awakening that God has sparked throughout the nation.

“I’m honored to be on the road with those guys,” Dixon said. “The first tour I ever did off of ‘American Idol’ was with Third Day [Mac Powell’s original band]. So it’s full circle for me to be back with Mac.”

Dixon shared that he has only gotten to tour once with Gokey, who is also an “American Idol” alum. Dixon is excited to go out on the road with his friend with whom he attends church.

Dixon explained that he believes the tour is going to be “special” because he feels like the artists have something to say. “I feel like now more than ever, people are hungry for truth,” he said. “So there’s a big opportunity, not just for our tour, [but] for every tour going out.”

“We could do what we normally do and and still glorify God in it, or we can see and seize the opportunity,” Dixon continued. “That’s where my eyes are set. I’ll speak for Danny and Mac as well, in my talks with them, this is a special season that we’re in, and we’re excited to be a part of what God’s doing.”

Dixon encouraged Christians to remain steadfast. “Don’t compromise. Don’t compromise,” he said. “God’s Word is true from very first verse to the very last. Don’t compromise to fit in. Don’t compromise out of pressure. Stand true and stand tall.”

“God goes before you, and he prepares the way for you, and he fights your battles,” Dixon added. “The way that we fight is not against flesh and blood, right?”
