Prayer Is the Greatest Good We Can Do

Beloved, I urge you to take a moment to pause and pray for the almost 150 million orphans in the world. In the United States and around the world, millions of children at this very moment are living in vulnerable circumstances. We know that children belong in families. Let us pray for families to rise up and love and care for these children who deserve to grow up in Christ-centered, loving homes. 

James 1:27 reminds us that “pure and undefiled religion is to care for the widows and the orphans.” Part of caring for the vulnerable around the world is, yes, to advocate for them with boots on the ground, but also to pray for them on a daily basis. 

Early 20th century evangelist and teacher Oswald Chambers once said, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”

Let us remember that charge as we get on our knees. It’s the greatest good we can do for the most vulnerable among us.
