Rev. Eric Foley, the CEO of Voice of the Martyrs Korea, is facing criminal charges from authorities in South Korea for smuggling the Bible into North Korea through “balloon launches."

A new video from Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) dramatizes the true story of a North Korean man named Sang-chul whose life was changed when he met a pastor in China. This pastor ultimately sacrificed his life to bring the gospel to people living in what is arguably the most oppressive country in the world. 

Kim Dong-chul originally went to North Korea to try to help the people there, but he admits his actions turned to espionage while working in the country. He claims to have been spying for South Korea and the United States.

The example of the Malaysian Church and the North Korean Church in the face of persecution give us hope and bolster our faith.

North Korean prisoner, Kim Hak Song, told of his year-long ordeal at his at his home church, the Oriental Mission Church in East Hollywood, California. He told fellow worshipers that his time was not wasted.

The North Korean hostages were doing missionary work alongside their regular occupations when they were arrested on a variety of alleged anti-state crimes, despite the fact that they appear to have journeyed to the diplomatically isolated nation to improve conditions for its 25 million citizens.
