Actor Tim Allen revealed on X Thursday, Sept. 25, that Erika Kirk’s public declaration of forgiveness toward the person who assassinated her husband, Charlie Kirk, has prompted Allen to forgive the man who killed Allen’s father over 60 years ago.
“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man… that young man… I forgive him.’ That moment deeply affected me,” said Allen. “I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’ Peace be with you all.”

Tim Allen Forgives His Father’s Killer
Tim Allen is a comedian and actor known for his roles in TV shows like “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing” and in movies such as “Toy Story,” “Galaxy Quest,” and “The Santa Clause.” In August 2024, Allen shared with fans that he was reading the Bible for the first time and called it “amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”

In April, Allen appeared on “The Way I Heard It” podcast, hosted by Mike Rowe, and shared how the death of his father at age 11 impacted him. “My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 11 years old,” said Allen. “Luckily, he was the only one killed, but he died in my mother’s lap. My other two brothers were thrown around the car. A lot of kids were hurt.”
Allen said he was “praying, weeping,” promising to do anything to make what was happening go away. But it didn’t. His uncle told Allen that Allen had to “man up,” not cry, and be there for his mother. Allen struggled to make sense of his father’s death, but the only answer he received was that his father “was in a better place,” which did not satisfy Allen.
Allen said his father “was a great dad, love of my life,” and the pain of his father’s death “never stopped. The discomfort of it…That whole process started me on asking questions, generally getting no answers.”
