Political commentator Bill Maher drew attention to the plight of Christians in Nigeria on the Sept. 26 episode of his show, “Real Time With Bill Maher.” In it, he criticized American media for not covering Christian persecution in the African country.

Maher, who is an atheist, addressed other topics related to Christianity, including the Sept. 21 memorial service for Charlie Kirk and the recent TikTok trend #RaptureTok.

“The fact that this issue has not gotten on people’s radar, it’s pretty amazing,” Maher said during the panel discussion portion of his show with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) and political commentator Michael Smerconish.

“If you don’t know what’s going on in Nigeria, your media sources suck,” said Maher. “You are in a bubble.”

Bill Maher, who is known for his political satire, is the former host of “Politically Incorrect” and the current host of “Real Time With Bill Maher.” In 2008, he released the film “Religulous,” which presented a negative view of various religious beliefs, including Christianity. In his Sept. 26 “Real Time” episode, Maher offered criticisms of Trump, the GOP, and the Democratic Party.

In his opening monologue, Maher addressed recent news developments such as the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey and Trump’s comments about Tylenol being linked to autism.

“A bright spot here in our troubled nation,” said Maher, was when Erika Kirk forgave the man who assassinated her husband, Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. During Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, Erika made headlines and received widespread praise for forgiving the assassin. She did so, she said, because that was the example Jesus set for us and “what Charlie would do.”

“And then Trump offered a rebuttal,” Maher said. President Donald Trump also spoke at the memorial and said that, in contrast to Charlie Kirk, the president hates his enemies.

“[Charlie] did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie,” said Trump. “I hate my opponent and I don’t want the best for them.”

“You gotta give it to the Republicans—big tent,” said Maher.

“In other religious news,” Maher continued, “another big religious story this week [was that a] lot of people, mostly the type who are living on TikTok, were very excited because they thought the rapture was coming.”
