Two-way star rookie Travis Hunter made a life-changing decision on game day. Hunter lives out his Christian faith on and off the field and chose to be baptized just hours before a big game against the Seattle Seahawks.

“I’m becoming a better man and leaving my old self and starting a new chapter,” said Hunter.

Hunter was the second overall draft pick in 2025, the first-round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. After a successful college football career, Hunter has proven himself to be an asset on both offense and defense in the NFL.

The rookie had been planning to get baptized at Celebration Church in Jacksonville, Florida, for some time, according to ESPN. The service ended up on the same day as the Week 6 game day against the Seattle Seahawks.

“It’s Sunday. It’s God’s day,” said Hunter. “I’ve been planning to go get baptized for a minute. I changed my life over to become a better man.”

With baptismals lined up outside, Celebration Church was ready for a number of public professions of faith, Travis Hunter being one of them.

“Couldn’t find my keys this morning and was late for church, only to come upon Jacksonville Jaguars Travis Hunter getting baptized!” said the user who shared the viral video.

Hunter’s giant smile was contagious as he came up out of the water. Pastors and church leadership stood by him for the meaningful moment.

“He asked to come get baptized before today’s game,” offered presumed church leadership. “Thank you Jesus for touching this young man’s life!”

Following his baptism, Hunter headed to the field to play against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks entered the game with a 3-2 record and snagged another win, 20-12 over the Jaguars.

Hunter had a successful performance during the game, despite the overall team’s loss. He completed four receptions, gaining 15 yards on offense. As a defense player as well, Hunter had a couple of tackles against Seattle.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are now 4-2 in the 2025 season and go against the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 19.
