Christian artist Forrest Frank has received two nominations for the 68th annual Grammy Awards—one in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category for “CHILD OF GOD II,” and another in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for his track “YOUR WAY’S BETTER.”

But will Frank attend or choose to skip the awards show like he did October’s 56th Annual Dove Awards? Frank received seven Dove Award nominations and won three, including the award for Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year.

Frank was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at last year’s Grammy Awards but lost to Doe’s “Heart of a Human.”

Artists Have To Submit Their Work To Be Nominated

No matter how popular or successful an artist is, artists must first meet the criteria and then submit their work in order to be eligible for a Grammy nomination.

Last month, a day before the Dove Awards, Frank shared with his 6 million-plus Instagram followers that he has been convicted not to attend award shows that honor him for his Christian music.

“This is not a refusal to be a light in dark places,” Frank explained. “This is a refusal to go on stages and get awards. I already got the greatest award of all time. Hope y’all can understand love you guys 🤍.”

Frank said, “I’m convicted, personally, that a line that I can draw is that I will not receive a trophy for something that is from Jesus and for Jesus, and I was wrestling with this last year.”

He recalled struggling while standing on the Dove Awards stage the year prior, when he accepted the award for New Artist of the Year. Frank recounted, “I even said that on stage at the Dove Awards. I said, ‘I’m still struggling with the concept of receiving this award, but all glory to Jesus. Every name will fade away, including mine, except for one name.”

This year, Frank stated that he felt a conviction to go a step further, saying, “I don’t know if I even want to step on the stage—I don’t know if I want to step in the room.” So, he said, “I have decided to take a stance of non-participation.”

Frank clarified, “I will not be attending the Doves or the Grammys. I hope to be an example to the youth that the trophy is our salvation.”
