Nathan John Feuerstein, better known to his fans as the the award-winning rapper NF, recently released a brand-new EP titled “Fear.”

The EP includes six new songs, one of which features Machine Gun Kelly (Colson Baker), a 35-year-old Cleveland, Ohio-born rapper, singer, and actor who is known for smoking cannabis, talking about sex, and being engaged to Megan Fox.

Who Is NF?

In 2016, NF won a Dove Award for Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year (“Therapy Session”) and Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year (“Oh Lord”). Despite debuting as a Christian artist and receiving some of the Gospel Music Association’s (GMA) top awards, today NF rejects the label of “Christian rapper.” In a rare 2023 interview, NF told The Guardian, “I started out in the Christian space but I didn’t really like it…it’s not where I see myself today.”

NF is not ashamed to share his faith in his lyrics, but his raw, emotional songs often focus on mental health, childhood abuse, and his upbringing—which includes his mother’s suicide. “In the Christian world everyone wants to pretend everything is OK,” NF said. “It feels sometimes like the end of songs have to have this great, positive ending. I wasn’t there. My music didn’t fit, because I didn’t feel that way.”

“I’m not a worship artist,” he added. “That’s not my music’s purpose. I don’t think I’m a preacher. I want anyone to listen to my music, believe in God or not.”

‘I Came Back to the Light,’ Say Machine Gun Kelly’s Lyrics

The song “Who I Was” on the “Fear” EP is the first collaboration between Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and NF.

In his verse, MGK talks about how he had “hid from God” for over two decades but “came back to the light.” MGK raps that God didn’t ask if he was still a “Christian” but instead “opened up his arms and embraced me like I’m his son.”

“I did this verse in one take and sent it NF same day he sent the beat,” MGK told his social media followers. “This was its rawest form, and I didn’t want to re-record to try and perfect anything. It was authentically how I felt in that moment.”

The “Tickets to My Downfall” musician shared that his only take on the verse “lets people into a side of me I don’t think the world is familiar with. I’m proud to be a part of his project and that this song is being received the way it is.”
