Pro-life advocates are congratulating Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance on the news that the couple is expecting their fourth child. The Vances made the announcement on social media Tuesday, Jan. 20, days before the vice president is set to speak at March for Life.
“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” said the announcement.
“During this exciting and hectic time,” the post continued, “we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

Vice President J.D. Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, wed Usha Vance, who is Hindu, in 2014. She is the first Hindu and Indian American to serve as second lady and is believed to be the first second lady to be pregnant while serving in that role. The Vances have three other children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
The couple met at Yale Law School, and Usha Vance practiced law until her husband was announced as the Republican vice presidential nominee. During his time in the White House, she has traveled with him on visits abroad and led a U.S. Presidential Delegation to the 2025 Special Olympic Winter Games in Italy.
“When’s the last time we’ve had a pregnant mom in the White House?” posted conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey. “Such great news!”
“Congratulations, @JDVance @SLOTUS!” said Live Action President Lila Rose. “So happy for you both. Praying for a healthy mama and baby and safe delivery!”
The pregnancy announcement comes as the Trump administration’s position on abortion has drawn renewed scrutiny within the pro-life movement. The vice president spoke at the 2025 March for Life rally and is set to speak at this year’s event on Jan. 23.
