More Christmas Object Lessons for Children’s Ministry

8. Christmas Tree Truth

Bible Passage: Isaiah 11:1 – “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse.”
Object: A small evergreen tree or branch
Lesson: Evergreen trees stay green all year long, symbolizing eternal life through Jesus. The lights and ornaments remind us of his joy and glory.
Kid Connection: Invite kids to name things about a Christmas tree that remind them of Jesus.

9. The Star That Points the Way

Bible Passage: Matthew 2:1-2
Object: A large paper star or glow-in-the-dark star
Lesson: The Wise Men followed a star to find Jesus. God still uses “stars” today—people, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit—to guide us to his Son.
Kid Connection: Make star ornaments with the words “Shine for Jesus.” Encourage kids to be a light that helps others find him.

10. The Nativity Puzzle

Bible Passage: Luke 2:1-20
Object: Nativity figurines or puzzle pieces
Lesson: When pieces are missing, a puzzle doesn’t make sense. Jesus is the missing piece that completes God’s big picture of salvation.
Kid Connection: Have kids assemble a Nativity puzzle together. Then talk about how Jesus completes the story—and our lives.

11. The Bell That Rings True

Bible Passage: Luke 2:13-14
Object: Jingle bells
Lesson: Bells ring to announce something important. When Jesus was born, angels filled the sky with praise—proclaiming peace and joy for all people.
Kid Connection: Let kids shake bells while shouting, “Glory to God!” Then discuss how we can “ring out” the good news today.

12. The Shepherd’s Staff

Bible Passage: Luke 2:8-12; John 10:11
Object: A walking stick
Lesson: Shepherds used staffs to guide and protect their sheep. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, came to lead us with love.
Kid Connection: Have kids walk around the room, following a shepherd. Talk about trusting Jesus for daily guidance.

13. The Broken Ornament

Bible Passage: Romans 5:8
Object: A broken ornament (carefully handled or pre-broken safely)
Lesson: Even when we mess up or “break,” God still loves us. Jesus came at Christmas to fix our hearts and make us new.
Kid Connection: Let kids hold a broken object and imagine how Jesus restores us with forgiveness. End by gluing together a craft to symbolize healing.

14. The Nativity Shadow

Bible Passage: John 1:14 – “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
Object: A flashlight and Nativity silhouettes or cutouts
Lesson: Before Jesus was born, people saw only shadows of God’s promises. But at Christmas, the real Light entered the world. God became human!
Kid Connection: Shine the flashlight on the silhouettes. Then turn it on full brightness to reveal a cross or Nativity image. Discuss how Jesus reveals who God truly is.
