On the way to a hospital, Turek recommended CPR. But, as he recalled, “Charlie wasn’t there. His eyes were fixed…[Charlie] was looking past me right into eternity. He was with Jesus already. He was killed instantly and felt absolutely no pain.”

Medical staff at the hospital “got a pulse because Charlie was a very healthy man,” Turek said, “but the shot was catastrophic.” The apologist lauded Kirk’s team members for their bravery and kindness, despite seeing their boss “martyred” before their eyes.

Turek also lauded the strength of Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow. He said she took the couple’s two young children to church last Sunday “to create some normalcy” after their father’s death. Erika Kirk will “lead the charge” by continuing her husband’s legacy, said Turek.

Frank Turek: Charlie Kirk Was Like a Son to Me

Frank Turek, a married father of three grown sons, said, “Charlie Kirk was literally like a son to me…He was like my fourth son.” The apologist pledged to do whatever he can to continue Kirk’s mission. Tonight (Sept. 17) at Western Carolina University, Turek is presenting a livestreamed Q&A titled “If God, Why Evil?”

In Tuesday’s video, Turek emphasized that “God can bring good from evil.” Referencing the Old Testament story of Joseph, Turek said that what other people meant for evil, God meant for good.

If Kirk had been asked to give his life so “thousands or probably millions” of people could come to Christ, he would have said yes, according to Turek. “There’s people who are now looking to Jesus because of what happened to Charlie,” Turek said. “People that would never darken the door of a church. People that would never crack open a Bible. People that would never consider the gospel of the Lord.”

Turek said Kirk will be remembered for his faith, just as he hoped to be. “Mission accomplished, good and faithful servant,” Turek said. The apologist encouraged others to join Kirk’s effort of “making heaven crowded,” saying, “The Lord will prevail.”
