Dr. Frank Turek, a Christian apologist who founded CrossExamined.org, spoke out Tuesday (Sept. 16) in a video about the murder of his friend and mentee Charlie Kirk. Turek also strongly denied a viral rumor that he was involved in a plot to kill Kirk, 31.
Kirk, a conservative activist, was fatally shot on Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University (UVU). Turek, a frequent speaker at Kirk’s Turning Point USA events, attended that debate and rode in the SUV that took Kirk to a hospital. After Kirk died, Turek recalled being shocked to discover that some people questioned whether he [Turek] played a role in the tragedy.

Frank Turek: Accusations Are ‘Categorically False’
In the immediate aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s murder, a “white hat” conspiracy theory spread online. It claimed that Turek—who was wearing a white cap and white T-shirt at the event—touched his hat and face right before a sniper’s bullet struck Kirk in the neck.
“It’s crazy that people actually believe this stuff,” Turek told viewers Tuesday. “It’s ridiculous.” The author and speaker thanked people who are dispelling the rumor online.
Turek is “Charlie’s close friend, mentor, and a man of God,” wrote apologist Alisa Childers. “Frank loved Charlie and would have done anything to protect him.”
Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon wrote, “Without hesitation, Frank would have put himself between that bullet and Charlie. Loved him like a son.”
On Sept. 12, Turek wrote that the “viral accusations” against him “are categorically false.” Turek was at UVU “as part of Charlie Kirk’s team, standing with him as a close friend and mentor,” the post read. “Their bond was marked by deep respect and unwavering support.”
“Like everyone, we want Charlie’s assassin brought swiftly to justice,” the post continued, “but reckless and false accusations only distract from the truth and dishonor Charlie’s memory.”
Turek isn’t making additional comments for now, the post noted, “out of respect for the gravity of this tragedy.”
Charlie Kirk ‘Was Martyred for His Bold Faith in Christ,’ Says Mentor Frank Turek
Frank Turek, 63, called Tuesday’s video the “most difficult show I have ever done.” Referencing the difficult days since Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Turek noted that “the pain is proportional to the value of the loss [and] to the greatness of the man.” Although Turek hasn’t been sleeping much lately, he said he “can actually feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit.”
