In her first public remarks after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, his wife, Erika Kirk, honored his life and promised to champion his causes. “The movement my husband built will not die,” she said on Friday (Sept. 12) from the Turning Point USA headquarters. “I refuse to let that happen.”
Charlie Kirk, an outspoken Christian and ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed Sept. 10 while addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University. The 31-year-old, who founded Turning Point USA at age 18, was known for rallying young people and debating controversial cultural topics, including race, gun violence, and abortion.
Last week’s assassination has sparked a reckoning with political violence and division in America.

Two days after her husband’s death, Erika Kirk, 36, publicly thanked people for their love and support following the tragedy. She spoke about Charlie’s faith and love of family before emphasizing that his “mission will not end.” Kirk also encouraged people to join Christian churches because “the spiritual warfare is palpable” in the United States.
Erika Kirk: Family Was My Husband’s ‘Greatest Joy’
Erika Kirk, a former Miss Arizona, hosts a devotional podcast, founded a nonprofit and a clothing brand, and often spoke at her husband’s events. According to her website, she is pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies at Liberty University. Erika and Charlie Kirk, who married in 2021, have two young children.
During her Sept. 12 remarks, Erika Kirk said that Charlie, who “wanted to be remembered for his courage and for his faith,” is now “wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.” He loved life, America, Jesus, nature, sports, and his family, she said.
“He is such a good man,” Erika Kirk said of Charlie. “He was the perfect father. He was the perfect husband. Charlie always believed that God’s design for marriage and the family was absolutely amazing, and it is. It is, and it was the greatest joy of his life.”
A key goal of Charlie Kirk’s, said his widow, was for people to “bring heaven into this earth through love and joy that comes from raising a family.” If Charlie had ever run for office, Erika shared, “his top priority would be to revive the American family.”
Charlie Kirk, who often spoke about biblical submission, “showed the ultimate and true covenantal love,” said Kirk. Referencing Ephesians 5:25, she added, “My husband laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children.”
Kirk, who said she’s still trying to make sense of the loss, said God knows its purpose and will work it out for good—despite “our world [being] filled with evil.”
The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry, said Erika Kirk.Click to Post
