Isabel Brown: Charlie Kirk Used Tech to ‘Make Heaven Crowded’

Isabel Brown, a wife and new mother, commended Charlie Kirk for teaching that being a spouse and parent is a vocation. She also recommended the slain activist’s upcoming book, about the benefits of practicing a weekly “digital Sabbath.”

But Brown emphasized that Kirk didn’t shy away from technology and social media; instead, he harnessed them to talk about Jesus. That was also evident with Kirk’s memorial service, held at a Phoenix-area football stadium on Sept. 21.

Brown, who attended the memorial, said it featured worship and gospel-sharing, not political rhetoric. “It was chilling,” she recalled of the service, saying she “tangibly felt the Holy Spirit” present.

Kirk launched Turning Point USA as a teenager and had become outspoken about his Christian faith. The 31-year-old husband and father was shot and killed Sept. 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University.

Despite the loss of “the intellectual and moral leader of an entire generation,” she said, followers of Jesus can honor Kirk’s memory by embracing our responsibility to “make heaven crowded.” With technology as a tool, Brown added, Christians can “bring an entire generation with us.”
